Have you ever tasted the most expensive caviar types in the world before? I understand from some articles that I’ve read that Beluga caviar is among the most expensive caviar types in the world and can cost up to ten thousand dollars per kilogram due to the Beluga sturgeon being a critically endangered species.
Apparently to really appreciate this very expensive delicacy, fine caviar should be served very cold. It is recommended to serve it in non-metallic bowl like glass, wood or even plastic and avoid the use of silver and metal bowls and utensils due to oxidation that may impart a metallic taste to the caviar.
If you’re wondering to how eat caviar, well true connoisseurs of caviar believe that the best way to eat it is simply, without any additions as even garnish might affect its taste. However if you find the taste too overpowering you can have it over dry or lightly buttered toast or unsalted, bland crackers. You can also squeeze a drop of fresh lemon juice on top, if you want.
It is also suggested that you have caviar with ice-cold vodka. However, these days, people have also started having champagne and chilled white wine with it.
Also remember that you should not take more than 1, at the max 2, teaspoons of caviar in your plate at any given time, . It is considered rude or incorrect to take large portions of caviar at a single time, especially at a social gathering.
Cheerio…
